SMC

Good morning!
My verse this time is from a friend of mine. She gave it to me when I was struggling with a decision to step out of my comfort zone and do something new and challenging. I was hearing God's soft voice but honestly I was ignoring it. I thought if I ignored Him long enough He would send someone else to do it. How sad is that? But it was going to be hard or worse it could possibly be fruitless and inefficient and y'all know that would drive me nuts! And life has become so easy for me in this season...but deep down I was so excited to be asked that I couldn't hardly stand it. I was honored and humbled that my name had even surfaced in the nomination discussion by folks I do not even know. Then in the midst of all that it hit me...my earthly hero Henry Blackaby says "you cannot go with God and stay the same" You have to be changed if you continue to go with Him! So ultimately I had a HUGE Moses at the burning bush moment that finally brought me to my knees and I said OK OK I'll do it. That was one of those times I truly understood the "fear of the Lord"! And this verse she shared was one of the final straws that broke me.

James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (NIV)

Effective June 1st...I'll be serving on the Johnston Baptist Association WMU Board as the Mission Consultant for the county. Pray me up girls! I need it!

Have a wonderful day in Him!!
Love ya

  1. Hey Kristy,

I don't know where my earlier comment is from this post (Must have gotten lost). After Billie's sermon last night I know that I need to refocus on this scripture memorization thing. I have not done a good job of learning them and keeping them in my head once we moved to the next one. This is partly due to me writing them on a ring of index cards but leaving it in my car so as we moved on I did not have the ones from earlier anywhere near me. So this morning I made me a new list of all my scriptures and it will be saved on my computer in a file that I can add to and print out whenever I lose my copy. (I am good at losing things). So now that I am organized and have my scriptures all in a neat list - I am Happy! In preparing to make my list I realized that my April 1st comment must have not made it thru since I could not find my reponse on here. That is fine but I honestly don't have a clue as to the scripture I picked. (Sorry) So here is one that I have circled from my BSF notes and have already placed in my heart and mind. Ps 16:2 I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

Thanks for leading this challenge. I do feel like this is a very important thing to do in our christian lives. As Mark Batterson says "Reading + Remembering = Revelation" We can't remember something we have never heard or have not read. That is why is so important to read His Word, listen to his word and to memorize His Word. Preach on Mark Batterson and Billie Lawson - this child of God is listening.

Lastly, Kristy - I will be praying for you and your new position with the JBA. I know you will be Great.
