The season has changed...Baseball is in and so is the garden! I think those are two of my top favorite things on earth.

2 - Jennifer Kennedy Dean is speaking at WMBC!!!! She is flat awesome y'all. Saturday May 19th. We want to fill up the sanctuary! Cost is $12 and that incldues lunch. Let me know if you are interested starts at 9 and over after you eat.

Happy Monday!
I wanted to hop on real quick and remind you to go ahead and be praying for our upcoming Discipleship Training courses. Pray for the leaders, the logistics, and each participant to have open ears and hearts. I am real excited this time because one of the courses offered will be Beth Moore's new course...James. It is one of my most favorite books of the Bible!

Greetings from across the pond!
Hey Y'all,
I am in denmark for my new job. It is going very well. I have seen a lot of amazing things and gotten enough rest and decent food to eat. I was really worried about the food...haha
I won't lie though...I miss home! The weekend has been hard. During the week you are so focused on work and learning and networking that the days go quickly...but the weekend has been kind of long. I am ready for Monday (thought I'd never say that!).
I have been able to find American tv shows to watch sporatically, but a lot of it is trash. So I listen to the voices and then move on...lol Yesterday I had a coworker tour me around Copenhagen but today I have explored on my own. This morning I walked to an old church. The service was starting but I was afraid to go in because 1) I would not know anything they were saying and 2) what if it was like a 4 hour service and I was in there not understanding anything with no way to sneak out! haha
Anyway, I decided to walk through the garden. It was a cemetary for family plots. It was unlike anything I have seen in America. Each one was manicured with a hedge around it with paths cut through it like you see in a movie. I took some pictures. I will share later.

Just Checking In...
I’m back…did ya miss me? I missed y’all.
My family took a short vacation…just the right amount of time away. We have never been week long vacationers…we just don’t roll that way. Personally, I like taking long weekends and stretching my vacation days out over the entire summer. =) Last year we took a full week and we were about nuts by day 5.
We went to see the Atlanta Braves play the Texas Rangers and then to Myrtle Beach with Travis’s parents. The Braves game was awesome! It got rain delayed so we bailed and went for supper instead of hanging in there for the over 5 hour ball game! But supper was good and 5 innings is enough at one time for my crew. And I took some really good pictures of Josh Hamilton like we are BFF’s or something. I told Travis they were so good that I should send them to his momma. And he just shook his head. Maybe he thinks she has better pictures from ESPN or something…hmmm oh well.
The beach was also awesome. It always reminds me of how BIG that God is! And I love the sand and salt…and so do my children. That is one thing they definitely get from me because if we NEVER went back to the beach my hubby would be just fine with that. The weather was perfect and the sunscreen worked well so we made the most of our two days hanging out with Meema and Papa. And there is just something special about reading your Bible at the beach…it’s just so serene and calm (when the kids are IN BED that is!!!).

Exciting Announcement and Misc News
I have an exciting announcement…I picked the Backporch Bible Study we will do this summer! For those of you that do not live in the Princeton area…I will pray for you…haha just kidding! Seriously, I will offer to get your books and possibly even meet at the Selma Bojangles three Saturday mornings to discuss the study as a small group. (But if you can make it to my house…the porch is an awesome experience! Can’t beat the serene sound of screaming kids in the yard…haha) The study is “Duty or Delight?”. I am including the synopsis at the bottom of the post (actually I can’t remember if that is the right word…anyway it’s the summary of the book on the back cover – don’t tell Mrs. Wallace! haha).
We will meet on Jun 28th at 6:30 to get our workbooks and just chit chat and eat snacks =). The workbook is going to cost between $16-$20 depending on shipping and qty we order. We will meet every other week to discuss two weeks of homework. Jul 12, Jul 26 and Aug 9. I need to know by Sunday June 12th if you want me to order you a workbook. Feel free to invite a friend we just might outgrow the porch...haha Just email me (kgardner1@aol.com) the qty of books you need.
In other news…tomorrow is the JBA WMU Luncheon. You are welcome whether you are Baptist or not…we would love to have you! It is going to be fun!
And here is breaking news…I just got an awesome text…my friend Tammy drove her car today!!! She feels that good…Praise the Lord! She has had an excellent week this week…Praise Him! Please continue to pray for her.
There are so many sick in our midst it seems. But I saw another beautiful sight last night…Xander Pond the little boy from Princeton with cancer was running amuck at the ball field with a crowd of youngins. He was playing tag it appeared. Please pray for him as well. I don’t know his family personally but I am sure they covet prayers right now. My favorite memory verse to pray over sick people is Jer 17:14 “Heal Tammy and Xander, O Lord and they will be healed, Save them and they will be saved, for you are the one we praise!”. Because I think this Old Testament verse shows us two awesome characteristics of our Lord…HEALER and SAVIOR! Amen!
Y’all have a great weekend and be a blessing to someone! And pray that I can give my devotion I practiced on y’all this week. I get nervous speaking in front of lots of people!

Answered Prayers...
I have a little testimony to share (like anything I share is ever “little” in length…). Many of you know that I am absolutely, positively, NOT a morning person. I really want to be one, but I am NOT! Well a few years ago Phyllis Elvington stepped on my toes…actually, she crushed them, in sermon at Caswell about quiet time in the mornings with the Lord. And she referenced numerous scriptures about early morning prayer time and Bible reading time. The scripture that she quoted that stung the most was Mark 1:35 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” My initially reactions was “come on does it really say very early”???? So I looked it up (several times) and yes, yes it does.
For a while I prayed for God to wake me up at 6am so I could read and pray, but then I gave up and continued to hit snooze. And for the last several years now I have been justifying the reasons I am not and cannot and will not be a morning person. I was so tickled that I had found scriptural references to support my stance. The book of Exodus was riddled with support…Ex 23:16, 23:19, 34:26, also Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Nehemiah all supported me. All of these verses discuss giving the Lord the firstfruits of your harvest and livestock, and oil, and everything else. And the Bible clearly identifies the firstfruits as “the BEST” portion that you have. So I was clearly living in God’s Will because my “best” is not 6am….it is 9pm when the kids are tucked in and I can sit in my chair on the porch and take in His glorious creation. So there…take that Phyllis! (Disclaimer - I am quite certain I have told some of you these same things that I have told myself…to comfort you for not being a morning person either…so if I have…you had better STOP here…because reading to the end might be dangerous for you!)
The problem is…the subject kept coming back!!! I cannot tell you the number of times in the last four years Billie, Tim, and even Beth Moore have preached directly to me about Mark 1:35. Most times it was because they were reading a bigger portion of scripture and just breezed by that one…but it did not breeze by my heart. And then this year at Caswell…Phyllis did it again with a different message but the same scripture!!!
A year ago I started running. And I am speaking literally here in case you got lost because on surface you would be like “what? How did she get from Jesus to running????” I realize the transition is bad…but I am not coming up with anything smoother…sorry! =)
When we planned the WMU 5K last year and I ran my first ever 5K without stopping to walk…I really could not stop to walk! I fell in serious like with the feeling from running…tired, shaky, sometimes like I would throw up but amazingly so satisfied! Then on Jan 1 when I decided to start weight watchers to lose enough weight to get off of my blood pressure meds, I kept running to get activity points. 3 miles was worth 6 points and that was a great feeling of accomplishment! Not too mention helping TREMENDOUSLY with the weight loss and NO MORE meds!!! (Praise Jesus!)
OK so here is where it gets back to Jesus. All those months running by myself I was praying for a running accountability partner. Kind of like a spiritual accountability partner…someone stronger at running than me to push me along…not so we could enter a bunch of “official” races because I honestly could care less if we ever participate in anything official. Then a few months ago out of the clear blue I got a text from a friend who saw me running by myself during ball practice and lo and behold I have hooked with an awesome running partner (*wink* to her)…and we are scheduled to run a half marathon this fall!
And then as if that answered prayer wasn’t enough…He decided to really show off His power! Which I absolutely L-O-V-E when He does that!! *grin* You see juggling 4 kids on 3 different baseball teams and a dancer, two full time working and church volunteering moms and two husbands who are also busy at church, home and work makes for a VERY difficult time to find an hour each evening for running. So we decided to get up at 5am 3-4 days a week to run our short runs so we could make sure to get in 15-20 miles a week. Yes…you read that correctly…5am (eastern standard time in case you doubted me!)!!!
So the absolutely, positively, NOT a morning woman is now a 5am running 3-4 miles, coming in at 6am and reading her Bible and praying before showering woman! And it is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, COMPLETELY a God thing!!! I would never in a million years do it on my own accord…it is His and His alone!
So ladies, never doubt that He will answer a prayer that is prayed IN HIS WILL for your life. He answers in His time and in His way…but there is always an answer if you pray IN HIS WILL! And if what you are praying is scriptural (ex- Mark 1:35 above) then you are assuredly praying His Will! Just anxiously wait for His time and His way! Remembering that "wait" is an active verb....but that is another post on another day!
So the moral today is….pray in His will and He will answer; maybe not in your time or in your way…but sometimes even better than you could imagine!
And also…be careful what you pray for because the Lord might just give it to you!!!! My Granny Capps always told me that and until the last few years I never understood it…but now it makes me grin to say it to my children and makes me want to give her a hug…someday on the other side…
Anyway, sorry it was long…and not very “ministry” related…but it helps me so much as a woman to hear others testify to His greatness and unfathomable power…so I wanted to share with y’all!

Tuesday Night Event!
TONIGHT IS wOMEN ON MISSION
Sorry I did not know caps lock was on and I am too lazy to erase it and start it over...which is hilarious since I just typed an extra two lines to explain that!
Anyway...Women on Mission is tonight at church at 7pm on the Adult SS Hall. Not sure which room yet...there was a schedule conflict. If you have never been...COME and bring a friend. (and yes, I knew caps lock was on for that one!). I am going to try and make it for the first time in MONTHS. Your WMU Director of the year(haha) has had a conflict all of 2010!!!! But tonight...might be the night! Pray for me to get there girls! I have missed it!
Or if you don't want to go to WOM...you can go prayer driving at 6:30.
Opportunities for Christian fellowship and activity are abundant these days! Which bring me to today's ponderful thought...how do you spend your minutes? I read somewhere...Lord only knows where and when...that life can be measured by minutes. We get 1440 of them every day. How do you spend them? Do you spend them on yourself? your family? the lost? praying? reading the Bible? (uhhhmmm 15 minutes is all I am challenging you to!!!) sleeping? watching tv? whining? arguing?
What do you do with the 1440 minutes each day that are a gift to you from God? How many are spent on ETERNAL activities? versus worldly activities? Make a list of your minutes...it is eye opening!!!! Example...most of us work an 8 hour job so that is 480 minutes to our bosses. We eat 3 meals a day and clean up behind the household...that is about 180 minutes. Some of us have to go to bed at 10pm to keep from turning into a pumpkin...and we MIGHT be too lazy to get up early...so we spend 510 hours sleeping. That ONLY leaves us 270 minutes to give to eternal activities or to the world. Where did you spend your extras today?????? or yesterday??????
So tonight...with your extra minutes...come support your church...or you can stay home...and spend your minutes doing something else...

Snow Day!
I do love the snow! I know some of you can't stand it...but I love it. Makes me feel like a little kid again. Even if I don't get to play long...just seeing it makes my day! Of course....I may weigh 50 pounds more by the time I go tback to work Tuesday! All we have done is cook and eat!

Another thing...
Sorry I forgot to share that I gave out the first two batches of the Christmas Story books...and I got one thank you at each location and a couple odd looks, and several no responses...not even eye contact. Which is basically the response I was expecting!
So y'all pray for the hearts that received books this weekend, and the 8 more next weekend. Pray for their hearts to be softened and eyes to be opened to Jesus. There are so many hurting people. My heart has really been burdened of late for folks that I love that would not go to heaven today if Jesus came back. I just want to shake them.

Monday Ramblings
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful day in Jesus' house yesterday! We had a baptismal service last night and it was awesome! Morning church service was good too, but there is something so special about baptizing that I just love. And it helped that Brian and Beth sang specials...I could listen to them ALL night! They are so talented!
It did not make it in the bulletin...but if you are planning to go to Caswell on the ladies retreat (Feb 25-27) I need to know ASAP. $50 deposit due as soon as you can pay it (payable to the church but hand deliver it to me)! I need to make sure we will fill all 30 spots before I pay the deposit. So if you are interested let me know even if you cannot pay the deposit right now. If you are reading from another church you are welcome to go with us...it is so much fun!

Whatcha Got Cooking???
Hope to see you at the Thanksgiving service tonight. I have the Preschoolers for Ms Tonia so y'all pray for my sanity...
I need a good recipe for a fruity dish. My sister-in-law is doing a chocolate cake, so I need to do something different for a dessert. I was thinking maybe a pig pickin cake or peach cobbler.
Anyone got any EASY suggestions???

Few Reminders!
Just a few reminders today...
- Tomorrow (Wed 11/24) we are having a Thanksgiving service at our church. I will be filling in for Tonia in Mission Friends...unless someone is itching to take my place...haha...y'all know how gifted I am with preschoolers...LOL I am sure it will be a blessing to attend!
- Please bring microwave popcorn and square sticky notes for the JCC Christmas bags!
- Also bring Backpack Buddy Food...the holidays will be long for those children!
- Any last minute OCC shoeboxes can be turned in before Sat Dec 4th.
Pray for safe travels for those travelling this week!

It's almost party time!
Tomorrow night at 6pm we will have our very first WMU Worldcrafts party. I am very excited. However, I have no snacks yet!!!! And I may have to work late again tonight! So y'all pray for snacks to be ready and everything done tomorrow in time!

ABUNDANT Women's Ministry Opportunities!!!
It is Wednesday! woohoo! .
Today's post is kind of like a commercial because I just can't come up with a nice way to say what is really on my mind and I really do try and keep some of these posts relevant to our church's Women's Ministry...haha.
Upcoming ways to be involved in Women's Ministry (other church wide opportunities are available but these are sponsored by WM in some way):
Every week - Backpack Buddy Food program
Oct 16 - WMU 5K...you can volunteer or sign up to walk. In this way you serve the Lord by helping missionaries across the world have clean drinking water.
Oct 19 - Women on Mission meeting 7pm in Conference Room
Oct 29 - WMU Worldcraft party Anything purchased provides unimaginable monetary and emotional support for artisans living in villages worldwide.
Oct 31 - Red Box Project deodorant due!
Nov 8 - House of Hope Supper night In this way you serve by being a Christian role model to hurting teenage girls who just enjoy regular fellowship with us! See Vicki Brown to attend.
Nov 21 - Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes will be due!
Dec 5 - Cookies for Community Helpers - firemen and ems workers!

Tick Tock...the countdown begins!
Race day is Saturday!!! And I am excited! We have 112 participants signed up so far! 10 volunteers and 102 racers! We have about 10 extra shirts...so it is not too late to register! As of today we will clear over $1300!! That is a filter and a half for the missionaries and a scholarship and a piece for the JBA Scholarship Fund!
In other Women's Ministry news...We are thinking of expanding a mentor program after the first of the year. The study is called "A Woman After God's Own Heart" by Elizabeth George. We read the book a few years ago as part of our Book Club. Some folks liked it (basically just me) and some folks did not (the other 9 in the club...ha). But it is tried and true to guiding women in cultivating a closer relationship with Jesus and each other. It is a 12 to 24 week course depending on your speed of reading and the amount of other Discipleship Training you are participating in. We are doing it as a one on one program. You would need to meet weekly or as close to that as possible. The more you meet the more accountable you hold each other and the more you will benefit from the study. Ponder it and let me know if you would be interested. The pilot run has gone awesome! Personally, I have been blessed in ways I never imagined! It is a great way to build strong friendship bonds with another Christian woman striving to please God! Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Just send me a note (kgardner1@aol.com)! We would love feedback from other churches that have tried this or would like to try it as well!

Sometimes it is just easier to believe...
At the Grand Canyon the guide was telling us all these "theories" of how the Canyon came to be. At the end he said "But you can believe whichever theory you like". And I looked at Travis and said...it is so funny that people try and come up with all this far fetched stuff to explain things...it is SO much easier to just BELIEVE GOD! That he spoke it into existence! ha
Honestly...the Grand Canyon is INDESCRIBABLE!!!! But these few pictures might give you a glimpse of how real God is!!!!

One step closer...
I downloaded the pictures to my SLOW home laptop last night...so tomorrow maybe some pics...haha
In Other randomness...
- Today is Wednesday! It is my favorite "week" day because we get to refuel at church tonight!
- This weekend is Homecoming at church and I am very excited because for the first time in years I do not have nursery duty! Well...as long as everyone shows up that is scheduled...hint hint if you are reading this! haha
- One of the baseball mamas made our Prayer Shawl Ministry group a lap blanket! It was so sweet of her. I was excited. She sees me crocheting at practice and asked what I was working on so I told her about the PSM Group. Two weeks later...a beautiful blanket! Wasn't that sweet? She is not churched right now that I can tell..so y'all pray for me to have the right words to encourage her to get involved with her church again.
- Yesterday I delivered the cookies to the Sheriff's Dept. I was early because they do not open until 8am. But a nice detective let me in the back door. They were excited and appreciative to get the cookies. Then the detective walked me out and said "If more folks in the county would do the Lord's work this would be amazing place to live". All I could say was amen! So I did what every good WMU Director would do...invited him to participate in the race! lol
- Speaking of which we are at 99!!!!! I am on pins and needles waiting to hit 100! God is so funny. I had prayed hard for 50...a low but achievable number...especially since there were so many doubters on the JBA board that it could be successful. Cause y'all know I hate to fail (especially my NOG girls!)...but my God is so BIG and He loves to remind me of it!! Go God! Ps 150:6!!!
OK...enough rambling...y'all lift up Clyde's Chapel today please their members, former pastor and Women's Ministry programs...they need some special prayer.
I do have one pictire to make you laugh...this is how I cam to work the day of all the raining...they think I am crazy...I don't know why???
