This letter is from...

James,  a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I am writing to the 12 tribes, Jewish believers scatter abroad - Greetings!  Dear brother and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  (James 1:1-3, NLT)

Y'all will love this image.  This week a friend of mine and I started running at 5am again due to heat and night time baseball schedules.  If you have been a reader for any length of time (poor thing!), you know that I hate to get up early.  I mean I pure DESPISE it.  But I love to run, so it offsets I guess =)

Well this morning my friend surprised me...she brought memory verse cards!  You see we took the Beth Moore challenge to memorize the entire book of James in 5 months starting May 1st!  I had planned to get my cards together tonight...but let me tell you that it really passed the running time this morning!  Granted...I have a neighbor (or two) that now has confirmed my sanity level...

It was hilarious.  I giggled so much it slowed us down a tad...ha!

If you aren't currently memorizing anything for eternity...join us in the challenge...James is an awesome book full of amazing advice and life lessons that apply today!

Well, I am off to read the rest of Judges for my daily reading...if you aren't currently using a daily Bible reading plan...join me in that too =)  You won't waste a minute on either of these tasks!

Kristy

"A Forgetful Listener"

It seems I have been away from the blog world for ages!!! I have not followed a single blog since Nov and have barely updated mine. Life just keeps getting in the way. I had to re-prioritize a lot of things with my job change as well as my husband's job change...and honestly...life on the web ranks where it belongs...dead last. I made several whole hearted attempts to get back to at least updating my blog...but as you notice...I failed...ha! I even thought a new background would keep me engaged. It didn't. But today...it is raining, baseball is cancelled, and my next calendar item is an hour away! =) And boy do I have some things to share with the two of you if you still exist ;)

I am doing the Beth Moore - James Bible study. And it is really hurting my toes. Here are a few things that slapped my face and I would like to share with you so you can feel the pain...ha!

Paraphrasing from my notes...Being touched by God's Word and being CHANGED by God's Word are two entirely different things! You can cry all day over how a message or Scripture touched your heart but if you wipe away the tears and continue living life the same...you might as well have saved the tissues. When you walk out the door and say "wow that was a great lesson" but are not changed by it...you are in TROUBLE! You have become "a forgetful listener" read James 1:23-25.

Y'all, it occurred to me...I haven't been changing...I have become a forgetful listener. So I am crying out Lord help me! I have let the world and circumstance in the way...and I haven't been changed by God's Word lately. I let others misery and bad attitudes invade my space. And it has changed me...negatively. I have still been reading my daily Scripture and keeping up my Bible Study homework, but it has been part of my routine and not a step on your toes, hit your head experience. James got my toes and hit my head...all at the same time...and I am so grateful to God for His perfect timing. If I had done this study 2 months ago...it wouldn't have the impact it is having today. Amen anyone? It always works that way. I have always believed that timing is everything...and God's timing is perfect!

OK...got to go...meeting coming soon...I am so excited...it is the planning meeting for the JBA WMU meeting May 19. Jennifer Kennedy Dean is speaking!!!!!!! SAVE THE DATE! Sign ups coming soon!

Go Bless someone...and if you don't mind pray for me to keep my toes sore and head swollen from the 2x4! Get in His Word ladies...you won't waste a single minute!!!!

In Him,
Kristy =)

Soaking Wet

Well...it is Sunday and I am trying to think of any reason possible to avoid getting soaking wet. You see...I did not get my grocery shopping done yesterday so I was planning to go today...but it is pouring. So I have made a pot of soup, worked on some e-mails, eaten about 10 snacks - weigh day will be UGLY tomorrow, and now I am reverting to talking to you...I just don't want to get out. ha!

I had infant nursery today...and we only had ONE baby. And she was a complete angel...never fussed a bit! It was wonderful! It was sad that my other 4 infant friends didn't make it to church, but the one on one with this baby was kind of nice.

I have been working on our Caswell trip that is next weekend...where is the time going??? I cannot believe Feb is almost over. We have our little league basketball tournament this week and then it is on to baseball (my favorite!). The seasons all start running together time is going so fast!

A friend of mine (well technically one of Caleb's friend's mom...but I will claim her too...haha) has opened her own beauty salon and I am so excited for her...but mostly for the opportunity she will be given to witness to folks by her chosen name for the shop...Salon 29:11. And it isn't the address =) it is Jeremiah 29:11...how cool is that??? I hope hundreds of people ask what the 29:11 stands for.

I know...I need a point...but I don't have one. So this can be the most random, waste of time blog post ever...sorry.

Have a great week...and pray for my friend Tammy. She got her MRI results from her liver/pancreas scan. The pancreas is looking stable but the liver has a new legion. She meets with the doctor Tuesday. Please also pray for Melanie. She has an oncologist appointment for an abnormal mammogram. She is already cancer survivor (melanoma - beat it twice!).

Thanks girls...I am headed to get soaked =(

Kristy =)

SMC - Feb 15th 2012

Howdy! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! Tonight was church night so I am filled up and ready to finish the week strong in the Lord! I love mid week prayer service because my tank usually needs refilling by Wed. Tim's message on caring for the poor was very timely. If you missed it, read the story of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar in Luke...ch 16. And then donate to Backpack Buddies *wink*.

OK...my verse this time is an old testament...and I am picking the last portion to actually memorize. I will post the entire verse for context. But the last part has become my theme verse over the years.

2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV) "Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said "Who am I, O Soverign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?"

Think about that one...look around you at your blessings. From the smallest to the greatest. There are blessings we have that we are not even aware of. Often times I ask...who am I? A Sinner. Plain and Simple. That is who I am. And I just praise God for grace. undeserved, unmerited...grace. It's amazing. Thank you Jesus for saving me.

What's your verse?

In Him,
Kristy =)
